Brass Mission

Brass Mission was founded in 1998 by Joachim Kunze and Jürgen Roth. Unlike classical brass quintets which have 2 trumpets, one french horn, and one trombone and one tuba, Brass Mission has three trumpets, one trombone and one tuba.

Brass Mission play Jazz, Rock, Pop, Funk and Salsa with JUPITER "Tribune" instruments.

Joachim Kunze

Music teacher and member of Brass Mission, Firehorns
Joachim Kunze is a "high note specialist". He plays tones to a height of C5, which has won him places in Funk, Rock and Big bands. He played with the youth orchestra of Hessen and with University Big bands of Frankfurt, Mainz and Giessen. For 5 years he was amember of the "Rodgau Monotones" and was on stage with many great musicians, like Ricky Martin, Fettes Brot, Albert Mangelsdorf, and more. He has toured throughout England, Australia, Egypt, USA und France.
Joachim Kunze is now teaches brass wind instruments at the music school in Bad Nauheim and Friedberg.

Mike Rafalczyk

Trombone and tuba player, composer, arranger and teacher

Mike Rafalczysk took his first trombone lessons in 1978 when he was 14 years old. Only 4 years later he formed a band of his own. After having reached his general qualification for university entrance at school he began studies of jazz at the Folkwang Academy in Essen and successfully finished them with a diploma.

As a trombone and blues harp player and singer he toured with various artists, such as Jack Dupree "the Champion", Peanuts Huckoo (USA, a musician accompanying L. Armstrong/Glenn Miller), Ken Colyer (tb., GB), Roy Williams (tb., GB), John Barnes (sax, GB), John Crocker ((sax) and Vic Pitt (b), both of them musicians accompanying Chris Barber, Phillip Catherine (g, F).

Beside such musical activities Mike Rafalczyk played as an orchestral musician at theaters in Duisburg, Oberhausen, Dortmund, Wuppertal on the occasion of the following productions among others: "The Threepenny Oper", "Buddy Boldens Blues", "Bugsy Malone", "Girls, Girls, Girls".

Mike Rafalczyk also attended numerous festivals, for instance in Dresden, Kempten, Bilbao (E), Eslöv (S), Basel (CH), St. Guermine (F), Copenhagen (DK), Verona (I).

Mike Rafalczyk played with the "Komm' mit Mann!" group for 10 years and since 1999 he is a regular member of the Killerhorns of Albie Donnelly's Supercharge.

   

Paul Schütt

Trombone and tuba player, composer, arranger and teacher

Paul Ludwig Schütt lectures at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. He is a teacher of musical arts. He also teaches at the School for Jazz and popular music FMW in Frankfurt.

Andreas Michel

Professional trumpet player

Andreas Michel’s trumpet sound, especially valued by the press because of its convincing brilliancy, is his trademark but not less an expression of his personality. Reviewers maintain that he does not play but that he really sings on his instrument.

His solo CD Rhapsody and latest CD called FIREWORKS not only are documentations of virtuosic trumpet skills but also excel due to the extraordinary selection of compositions performed.

Cathrin Ambach

Music teacher and member of the trio Tegevé who play virtuoso acoustical jazz with elements from Flamenco, Balkan music, Latin music and Tango.

Cathrin Ambach studied at University of Music and Art in Frankfurt.
Since 1991, she has been a flute teacher at different music schools. She plays classical music as well as jazz. She has published numerous instructional books for flute.

Saxophone player, music teacher and member of Ca-roH, Band 2toNine, Tiffany Connection
Carolin Hild has played sax for many years, mostly in Jazz, Rock and Pop music.
She is member of "Radio RPR", "Band 2toNine", "Ca-roH" and "Tiffany Collection". She has also played internationally with the "Weather Girls", PUR, BAP, "Sasha," and many others. In the last few years she toured in Germany with "Radio RPR" and with Annette Kreutz (piano/vocals).
Carolin Hild is tutor for saxophone in Kreuztal and Dormagen. She plays on JUPITER "Artist" saxophones.

Dirko Juchem

Professional player and music teacher
For many years Dirko Juchem plays live, as well as in studio. He has worked with lots of famous musicians and has taken part in more than 100 records. He has also toured America, Taiwan and many other countries.
With his German saxophone, he has accompanied musicians such as Rolf Zuckowski, Thomas Anders, Harald Juhnke and the Circus Roncalli, as well as international stars like Sara K., Allan Taylor and Thea Austin (SNAP).
Dirko Juchem has written for well known German music magazines and published numbers books for saxophone.
He is teacher at several music schools and lectures at the music academy in Remscheid.

Alexander von Hagke

Professional Saxophonist
Alexander von Hagke belongs to the most renowned saxophonists of his generation in Germany. Susanne Alt

Professional Player
Susanne studied music at an early age and she started to learn saxophone at 12. At the age of 15, after winning regional and national prizes she became external student at the Meistersingerkonservatorium Nürnberg where she studied classical saxophone, while still being in school. Between 1993-96, she attended jazz workshops in Erlangen where she won the prestigious “International Siemens Preis for young jazz talent” in 1996. At about the same time (1997-2000) she was a member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra Germany, conducted by Peter Herbolzheimer and John Ruocco. In 2000 she won prizes at the Jazz competitions in Leiden and Breda, the Netherlands and was 2002 finalist of the Leipziger Jazznachwuchsfestival, Germany. In 2004 she became finalist of the “Dutch Jazz Competition” (now: European Jazz Competition). In 2004, she released her debut CD with compositions written by herself and the other members of the Susanne Alt Quartet. Currently Susanne is working on finishing her second album which will be released in September 2007 at the Bimhuis, Amsterdam. She’s also a member of the Amsterdam Jazz Orchestra and the Funk Soul Sisters now.
Susanne plays JUPITER Artist 900 series Saxophones.
