Ernesto started the musical studies when he was 8 years old, at the Children Symphonic Band in Xochimilco, as a clarinetist.
After a few years he started professional musical studies at the Escuela Superior de México, as a clarinetist for a few years, but later on he switched to the Jazz major, as a saxophonist, where he concluded his studies.
