How do I take care of my trombone?
|
 |
Clean and dry the mouthpiece
before placing it in the case. |
 |
For instruments equipped
with rotary valves, regularly apply rotor oil to the
rotor stem directly between the stop arm and the top
of the rotor casing. Work the rotor back and forth several
times to evenly distribute the lubricant. |
 |
To oil the slide section: |
 |
Use a soft cloth to clean
the inner slide. |
 |
Apply a small amount
of slide oil to outer surface of the inner slide. |
 |
Put the inner slide back
into the outer slide and work the assembly back and
forth several times to evenly distribute the lubricant. |
 |
For instruments equipped
with piston valves |
 |
Carefully unscrew the
valve cap and remove the piston. |
 |
Apply a few drops of
valve oil to the piston surface. |
 |
Put the piston back into
the valve casing making sure the valve guide is properly
positioned in the valve guide slot. Depress the valve
several times to evenly distribute the lubricant. |
 |
Apply tuning slide grease
regularly to the tuning slide assemblies. |
 |
Use either a trombone
cleaning rod wrapped with a long, dry cloth or a flexible
trombone cleaning brush to clean the inside of the slide
to maintain optimum performance. |
 |
Use the included cloth
to remove fingerprints and protect the finish. |
What else should I pay attention
to? |
 |
Do not over-tighten
the slide receiver lock nut. |
 |
Do not force the mouthpiece
into the receiver. Insert with a gentle twist only. |
 |
The tuning slides are
very fragile. Take special care to protect them from
damage. |
 |
Do not place the instrument
on a chair, desk, or anywhere else where it could easily
fall. Place the trombone on a suitable instrument stand
to avoid damage. After playing, put the instrument back
in its case to protect the finish and avoid scratches.
|
 |
For adjustment or repair,
take your instrument to a qualified technician or dealer.
Do not attempt to repair the trombone yourself. |
